Healthy Lifestyle, Healthy You!

As the New Year approaches, you might be thinking about making some permanent changes to the way you care for yourself. We all make resolutions that we hope to carry through the year. But the truth is, habit change takes time and effort. If you’re ready to dive in, please sign up for our virtual 9-week Health Reset Program. Take a peek into the key factors in health that will be covered in the course:

Back to Basics

It’s tempting to try something that provides quick results, like a GLP-1 medication. Regardless of whether you choose this route, lifestyle change is crucial to the maintenance of any health gains. It’s likely that staying on these medications for life will have detrimental impacts on your digestive health, and coming off them can present a challenge to maintaining metabolic benefits or weight loss. So, getting back to the basics of what promotes good health is essential.

Intermittent Fasting

While it is not appropriate for everyone, intermittent fasting can benefit most people. The essence of intermittent fasting is to give the body time to burn fat for energy. But it also produces many other health benefits. There are various ways to do it, but incorporating some form of it into your lifestyle is, for the majority of people, vital to good health.

Food Quality

Empty calories leave your body wanting more. Poor quality food not only lacks nourishment but can harm the body in myriad ways. Most clients I have worked with think they have “a pretty healthy diet”. But when I get down to the nitty gritty with them, I find the quality of what they are putting into their bodies leaves a lot to be desired. Learning what constitutes truly high-quality food is necessary for good health.

Environmental Factors

I can’t keep count of the number of research articles I see about the ubiquity of chemicals affecting our health, particularly hormonal and cognitive health. Whether it is glyphosate, PFAS, or our own personal care products, we need to be aware of where these chemicals are found so we can minimize our exposure to them. If you want to learn about a 10-day detox that helps to clean out the body, join our 10-Day Detox Program. It is a commitment of only one evening virtually and then the 10 days that work best for you to do the program.

Digestion & the Microbiome

I see research articles weekly about the importance of the microbiome and its many connections to health. The composition of microbial communities in our gut can impact mental, metabolic, emotional, and physical health. Learning to support a healthy microbiome is key to overall health.

Sleep & Stress

Stress and poor-quality sleep are so intertwined that it’s tough to talk about them separately. There are many natural ways to promote good sleep and manage stress once you have the tools. Chronic stress and sleep issues can negatively affect recovery from any condition you have, and if well managed, can positively impact any condition you have. Learn to stress less and sleep like a baby.

Emotional Eating & Snacking

Many of us “eat” our emotions. Learn strategies to replace emotional eating with more health-promoting rewards. Since snacking is often where we stumble with emotional eating, learn the best healthy snacks to have on hand.

Getting Unstuck

If you feel like you’ve tried it all and nothing works, learn how to break the body’s set point and achieve better health. Specific problems like high insulin, excess cortisol, and sub-optimal thyroid health can be measured with certain blood or other functional tests. Learn what to ask your practitioner for to get the information you need to improve your health.

Eating Away from Home

One of the greatest issues we face is how to maintain our health when we’re eating food that isn’t completely within our control. While the best thing to do for yourself is to cook at home, this isn’t always practical in today’s world with busy schedules. Learn some tips and tricks to make eating out more healthful.

Working on these basics aspects of health can vastly improve your wellness, regardless of where you are starting from. The feedback I have had on these groups, which I have been running for over 10 years, is that they are practical, sustainable, and easy to follow.

The virtual delivery of the program is great for winter—you can stay in the comfort of your own home or even do it while away. The accountability and support of working with a group can also be very helpful. Everyone can learn something from this program, and just about anyone can benefit from it. SIGN UP HERE if you’re ready to make 2025 your healthiest year yet!
